Ballet

Classical ballet is a traditional and highly formalized style of dance that originated in the royal courts of Europe, especially in France and Italy, during the 15th to 17th centuries, and was later further developed in Russia. It is defined by strict technique, precise movements, and a focus on grace, lightness, fluidity, and symmetry. Ballet demands a strong foundation in posture, alignment, and turnout, with movements carefully controlled to highlight balance, strength, and flexibility.

In my ballet classes, I emphasize a correct anatomical understanding of ballet technique through balanced alignment and a deeper awareness of the skeletal, muscular, and fluid systems of the body. I also focus on grounding, the relationship with gravity, breathwork, presence, and musicality.

The class follows a traditional structure: beginning with the barre, followed by a short break for stretching and hydration, and then progressing to exercises in the center and across the studio. Time is also dedicated to individual corrections, partner work, and exercises that support a deeper understanding of the principles of movement in ballet.
