"Awakening" is a solo performance created for an exhibition that took place and revolved around the topic of the solar equinox in spring 2024. By interacting on a subtle level with the exhibited works and the public, the performance merges the exhibition space with the performer and the visitors.
Just like buds breaking through the hard shell of their seeds, Marita gently explores the movement of her own body in its joints as if moving them for the first time.
Performing on the day of the spring equinox, when day and night are equally long, also inspired Marita to work with the idea of opposites that she connected with spring and her approach to dance — such as soft and hard, effort and effortlessness, mature and immature.
